Back in August of last year, Deer Valley Resort announced a monumental expansion that will add 3,700 acres of terrain and 16 new lifts to its world-renowned, ski-only destination located in the Wasatch Mountains in Park City, Utah. This was part of acquiring and integrating the up-and-coming Mayflower Resort into its current operations. The complete project will unfold over the next three seasons, with a significant portion of the new lifts and trails set to open as early as the 2025/26 winter season.
The brand-new base area and ski portal, located conveniently along Highway U.S. 40 headed southbound to Heber City, will no longer be called Mayflower but will be known as Deer Valley East Village. The new name is not a major stretch, showing how the resort wanted to stay true to its world-renowned, luxury brand recognition.
Developed in collaboration with Deer Valley Resort by Extell Development Company, the new base area will feature a state-of-the-art skier service facility, ski school, children’s programs, rentals, retail, and dining options. It will have a 10-person gondola, 1,200 new parking spaces dedicated for day-skier use, and will feature over 800 hotel rooms, nearly 1,700 residential units, 250,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, and 68,000 square feet for recreation. The upgrades aim to improve accessibility for both day skiers and destination guests at the resort and will contribute to the reduction of traffic in the town of Park City.

The Deer Valley East Village will sit at the base of the major terrain expansion and will provide ski access across four new peaks, easily connecting the existing terrain and the new Deer Valley terrain. Not all the terrain will open immediately but will open over several seasons. The majority of the new terrain will be opening in the 2025/2026 winter season and will include 2,900 acres and 110 runs. Once the entire project is completed, Deer Valley will offer over 5,726 acres of skiable terrain accessed by 37 chairlifts, serving 238 ski runs, spread across 10 mountains.
Perhaps the highlight of the base area amenities will be the opening of the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley luxury hotel. Slated to open in late 2024, it will introduce 387 guest rooms, 40 suites, 55 private residences, and nearly 40,000 square feet of conference and event space. About 100 rooms within the hotel are expected to be set aside for military members, who will be offered discounted rates as part of Extell’s collaboration with the state’s Military Installation Development Authority. Two additional five-star hotels are in the plans as well by world-renowned architects, and construction is planned to start this summer.
Deer Valley already had a reputation for revolutionizing the ski industry by providing the first-class service one would receive at a five-star hotel.
