A few friends and I made it down to the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, CA today.
The place is stunning. Â Water everywhere.

The skiing was good on north and east aspects. Â South and west facing snow was cooked and/or cooked and refrozen.
It was all about the views today. Â We got a bit skunked on the light, but still had a blast.
I watched in disbelief as the Miss Dixie “Icebreaker” ripped through the ice to the entrance of Emerald Bay. Â We then listened to her grind against the ice around Fannette island. Â Simply unreal and gorgeous to watch.
Super hot hiking up in the sun. Â Quite cold up top after the sun went away and the wind kicked up.
There is still absolutely spectacular snow on shadowy aspects. Â

Tahoe is on fire right now.
PLEASE never go into the backcountry with the proper avalanche education, avalanche gear, and a great partner. Â If you don’t know, DON’T GO.
