Report from December 11, 2023

Yesterday we went for a walk in the woods in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah.

Maxwell, Martin, & I.

The highlight of the day was running into legendary avalanche forecaster Bruce Tremper.

Bruce agreed to come on The SnowBrains Podcast, which would be epic.

We kept it mellow as we are still scared of the persistent weak layer that continues to linger in the alpine.

We skied chill trees and had some laughs.

The snow was very good but thin.

We did not see any signs of instability in the zone we were in and we didn’t find much faceting in the snowpack.

The snowpack was generally about 50cms deep in the area we were in.

The forecast is for nothing but sun for a while so it might be time to hit the ski resorts and learn how to ski again instead of hiking all the damn time 😀

Thanks, Utah.
