Report from December 18, 2023
Yesterday we went for a long walk and a short ski.
The plan was to get up high and ski a line I’d seen from afar a couple days ago.
The wind was howling and it kept us off the original goal – which was probably fine because we believe that snow got wind hammered.
Plan B was a steep little face below the ridgeline and out of the wind.
We hiked for 3 hours and 45 minutes and climbed 3,300-vertical-feet for 23 powder turns!
Worth it?
Maybe…
You’ve really gotta scratch and sniff to find any good skiing in the Wasatch right now.
It’s still very boney out there so please be careful.
After the walk, I was honored to have the President of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, WY, Mary Kate Buckley, on The SnowBrains Podcast.
Today:
- 7-miles round trip
- 3,300-vertical-feet
- We didn’t see any signs of instability in the snowpack
Thanks, Utah!
