Two days ago, on February 10th, 2015, Japan had one of its deepest, driest days. It was certainly the deepest, driest day of the winter thus far.
This video is from our first run. This is the kind of skiing we can all relate to. The kind of skiing we all dream about and hope for. Simple, deep, mellow, happy powder skiing.
Gasping for air in between enormous faceshots, holding your breath while snow hits you in the face, involuntarily licking snow off lips, wiping goggles, scanning for trees.
On this day on this run, there were about 100 cms (40 inches) of new snow and it was -10ºC (14ºF). We skied as hard as we could from 9:30am to 4pm. I’ve rarely been so tired from just skiing perfect snow. A day to remember.

They use huge trucks that blow the snow through long funnels overhead. I’ve seen similar, though not soooo deep, shots of Idaho using that kind of equipment.
What a powder snow!!
AND…. I was there
got real pitted on that day!
