They’re back! The Utah Avalanche Center is once again making daily avalanche forecasts for the 2023-24 winter season starting today, December 1.
The UAC’s daily avalanche forecasts typically include up-to-date weather and snow information, snow forecasts, current riding conditions, recent avalanches, and an overview of a specific area’s current avalanche problems.
The current avalanche forecast for the Salt Lake area mountains published on Dec. 1, 2023 comes just as a series of snowstorms impacts Northern Utah.
“The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Salt Lake mountains through Monday morning as a series of storms move through the region this weekend with two to three feet of snow expected by Monday.” – UAC
The UAC typically produces daily forecasts from December until April. Please always check your area’s avalanche forecast before entering the backcountry.
Stay safe out there this winter!
