Report from June 6, 2025
I hadn’t been skiing in over a month and a half.
With our summer schedule filling up quickly, I knew I had to make a trip up to Timberline Lodge sooner rather than later.
It turns out that early June is a great time to go, as there is plenty of snow and the busyness of peak summer hasn’t hit yet.
Timberline is one of only a handful of ski resorts across North America still open, so I feel lucky to live so close.
The mountain operates from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and I arrived at the mountain with my two boys around 9 a.m. and we jumped on the Magic Mile lift by 9:15 a.m.
The forecast called for clouds in the morning and decreasing cloud cover in the afternoon, but when we arrived, it was all sun.
There was plenty of snow to ski all the way to the base of the Magic Mile, but since it hadn’t froze overnight, we found out it was pretty soft and already getting sticky.
So, we headed to the top of Palmer for higher alpine skiing.
It was perfectly soft and carvable and it stayed that way the entire day.
As we took a break for lunch, we couldn’t wait to get back out because the turns were so much fun.
To finish the day, we took a lap through the terrain park to hit the halfpipe and some jumps.
There was plenty of snow to ski all the way down to the parking lot.
Timberline is just getting the summer started and it is shaping up to be a great one.
