Thredbo is celebrating the end of a hugely successful school holiday period, which saw a massive number of families descend on the Snowy Mountains to enjoy everything Australia’s Best Ski Resort has to offer. Thredbo Brand and Marketing Director Richie Carroll said that there was a magical feeling in the resort during school holidays.

“There’s nothing better than seeing families have a great time together both on-and-off the mountain. We’re extremely proud to offer such a diverse and unique family snow holiday experience with our huge calendar of events and entertainment. Skiing and snowboarding truly is just the beginning here!”

From July 1 – 16, Thredbo hosted its hugely popular July Kids Snow Festival, providing families with a non-stop calendar of free events and entertainment to enjoy in addition to great skiing and snowboarding conditions. With kids flare runs and fireworks every Thursday night, free Lindt Chocolate s’mores making, kids-only movie nights, music, dancing, games, prizes, Thredboland animal visits and more, the family fun was non-stop.

On the final day of the school holidays yesterday, Thredbo hosted a brand-new kid’s skiing, snowboarding and workshopping event called Project Shred. The event was a big success with a huge number of kids turning out to the kid-friendly terrain park to ride with some of Australia’s best pro athletes and Olympians and learn all their tips and tricks on the snow. After the shred session, everyone headed down to the village for a workshop where the athletes sat down to inspire the next generation and share their secrets to success and happiness.

Thredbo received 51cm (20 inches) of fresh snow throughout the school holiday period, taking the total season snowfall count to 177cm (70 inches) so far. During school holidays, families enjoyed magical mornings where the village had been transformed into a white winter wonderland plus lots of sunny bluebird days on the mountain in-between.

Looking ahead, Thredbo will continue to roll out Australia’s biggest winter events calendar. Uni Week kicks off today, offering tertiary students 30% off lift passes plus 15 après parties for them to enjoy with their classmates over 5 days. The après will continue this weekend with the iconic First Base presented by Canadian Clubevent taking over The Alpine Bar next Saturday July22, 2023.

For families that missed out these school holidays, Thredbo’s famous Kids Snow Festival is returning during the September school holidays from September 16 – October 1, 2023.
