Today, Thredbo Ski Resort, Australia, announced that it will be opening for skiing and snowboarding tomorrow, Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Thredbo Brand & Marketing Manager Richie Carroll said he couldn’t wait for skiers and snowboarders to hit the slopes tomorrow.
“The entire Thredbo team has been working day and night to get the mountain ready and now that mother nature is playing ball, it’s go time! The forecast just keeps getting better so we’re very excited for a massive winter season ahead.”

Thredbo’s opening weekend on King’s Birthday Long Weekend had been without skiing or snowboarding, as temperatures had been too warm, melting any snowfall from May and leaving temperatures too high for sufficient snowmaking.
Blizzard conditions across Sunday and Monday brought fresh snow down to the village, and mother nature isn’t showing any signs of slowing down yet. Subzero temperatures on Sunday night created ideal snowmaking conditions, allowing 147 snow guns to fire from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday. On Tuesday, the Cruiser and Gunbarrel Chairlifts will be open to skiers and snowboarders, providing access to Walkabout in the Cruiser Area.
Experts forecast freezing temperatures and another 40cm (16 inches) of snow over the next week.
