
The countdown for which mountain in the East will open first is on and skiers and riders have been waiting for announcements from the resorts. The first major ski resort in the East announced on social media that it will open on November 17 this season. Sugarloaf Mountainย in Maine will be open before the Thanksgiving Holiday which will most likely attract a lot of happy skiers and riders.
Sugarloaf Mountain has added new terrain and a new lift over the summer which will be ready this season according to the resort.ย Sugarloafโs Bucksaw Express high-speed quad opens this winter to provide skiers and riders access to the new West Mountain Expansion.ย Sugarloaf also added 120 acres of new terrain at the West Mountain area of the resort and includes 12 new trails. This is the largest expansion in over 40 years at Sugarloaf and further cements it as the largest ski resort east of the Rocky Mountains.
The opening day announcement by Sugarloaf Mountain is getting skiers and riders excited because it means that other resorts in the East will be following suit and opening soon as well. Although Sugarloaf has made the announcement it will be open on November 17, it does not mean it will be the first to open in the East.ย Killingtonย in Vermont is typically the first mountain to open in the East every year and has opened in previous seasons in October.ย The time of the year for skiers and riders has finally arrived and there will definitely be more opening-day announcements to follow.
