Silverado is one of best lifts and best zones at Squaw Valley, CA and Squaw is planning to open it today. This will be the first opening in two years.
This lift offers up about 500 acres of challenging, techy terrain below High Camp. The famous China Wall has been the location of at least 2 Freeride World Tour events in the past.
Lines like The Drifter, The Spigot, Frogs & Toads, Gotts, and the classic backflip off the tram building freak out, scare, and challenge even the best skiers and riders (see Squallywood The Book).
Update From Squaw Valley:
TERRAIN UPDATE: For the first time in two years Silverado will be open to the public starting tomorrow, Friday, January 25. Enjoy access to 5 bowls, steeps, cliffs and coveted terrain. Ride ’em Cowboy!

For those questioning why it hasn’t opened in the last two years and while not until today, it takes a crap ton of snow to get the bottom of the chair accessible. Likely due to it’s poor placement in a drainage, but it is what it is at this point. Let’s just be happy it’s been a good snow year and it finally popped. Great stuff this morning!
