Resort announcement

The resort, located in Quebec, welcomed skiers and snowboarders at 11 a.m. yesterday, Thursday November 2nd, 2023, as temperatures dropped sufficiently to allow both natural and artificial snow production. The early opening has set a precedent for other Canadian resorts, with many western ski areas yet to announce their season start.

Hundreds of visitors turned out for the opening, some sporting ’23-24 Jour 1′ T-shirts to commemorate the first day. The resort’s initiative is a positive signal for the ski industry, which anticipates a robust season ahead.

Sommet Saint-Sauveur’s proactive approach to snowmaking and its strategic geographical location have consistently placed it at the forefront of early season openings in Canada. The resort’s commitment to providing an extended season for its guests underscores its position as a leader in the Canadian winter sports market.

The opening pips Nakiska Ski Area in Alberta that announced it would be opening early on November 4th, 2023.ย Norquay Banff and Lake Louise, AB, are both opening this weekend too.
