According to Buckrail, a snowmobiler has died as a result of injuries that he suffered after being buried by an avalanche on Friday, December 29th, 2017. At about 2:00pm on Friday, a group of snowmobilers triggered an avalanche in the Salt River Range in Wyoming. It occurred near Commissary Ridge at about 9,296 feet.
The large avalanche resulted in two individuals being partially buried and another being completely buried. Shortly after, Star Valley Search & Rescue responded to the scene and the fully buried victim was recovered and taken to the hospital via a helicopter. Sadly, Brennan succumbed to the injuries that he suffered from the avalanche. A GoFundMe has been set up to support his family through this horrible time. Our thoughts are with Brennan’s family and friends. This is a sobering reminder to stay safe in the backcountry.
