Snowboarder Triggers Avalanche On Castle Peak, CA Over The Weekend

On Saturday January 27th, 2018 an avalanche was triggered on Castle Peak, CA at 9:05am.ย It was initiated by a backcountry snowboarder, but he escaped uninjured. There may not be a ton of snow in the Sierra Backcountry, but there’s still avalanche dangers.

“I was the second person to drop into this slope. ย The avalanche started about 10 feet after I headed down the slope. ย It broke both in front and behind me and slid for about 150 feet,” stated the snowboarder that was involved.ย
