Sierra-at-Tahoe, CA, announced today that they will be opening for one weekend in April having been closed for the season due to damage caused by the Caldor Fire.
As the Caldor Fire tore through Sierra-at-Tahoe, CA, in September, we feared the worst––one of our favorite resorts was being razed to the ground. Thankfully, that didn’t happen, and due to heroic work by firefighters and the use of snowguns to dampen the area, Sierra-at-Tahoe survived. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t any damage. Thousands of trees were torched and buildings and chairlifts burned.
To pay homage to our history while setting our sights on the future, we are OPENING the resort for ONE WEEKEND ONLY, April 9-10 2022, to reflect, reconnect — and celebrate 75 Years of Sierra https://t.co/e4K6zIMm1Y

But, with just a month of the season remaining, the resort has announced they will open on April 9-10 to celebrate the resort’s 75th anniversary. For the first time this season, the resort’s slopes will be accessible to the public. Two chairlifts will turn and a bunny hill conveyor.
