Shocking Murder Attempt on Woman and Her Dog in Van Near Cripple Creek, CO

A woman and her dog have been violently attacked in the night on Wednesday, August 7. The Teller County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a 911 call at 12:43 a.m. about an assault in a camper van near Cripple Creek, Colorado.

The injuries the woman sustained were so bad that the Teller County Sheriff’s Office mistakenly reported that the woman was deceased. A correction was published later, stating she was in extremely critical condition.

The dog’s injuries were bad and the female pup sustained a fractured skull and broken eye socket, resulting in irreparable damage to one eye which required the removal of the eye. The dog is said to be doing well and is expected to make a full recovery.

The identity of the woman was not revealed but her dog has been named as Ida by the Teller County Sheriff’s Office. At this time the Teller County Sheriff’s Office does not believe there is an active threat to the safety of the public.
