There’s no better way to celebrate the legacy of Jake Burton Carpenter than to join a crew of snowboarders for a global day of riding. With 7” of fresh snow overnight (10” total over the weekend), sunny Colorado skies, and a freshly groomed Woodward Peace Park, A Day for Jake at Copper Mountain Resort, CO, was one to remember for all riders who showed out.
A Day for Jake is a time for snowboarders to remember and reflect on his undeniable impact on our industry and community. Riders across the globe paid tribute to the godfather of snowboarding who brought us together, created the sport we love, and a lifestyle unlike any other.
Jake’s vision, perseverance, and generosity made the snowsports world a better place, leaving a lasting impact on anyone he encountered. Jake was a pioneer, ahead of his time, and will forever continue to inspire us to: as he liked to say,
“Have as Much Fun as Possible.”
With pow slashes, fast snow, and spring weather, there was a surplus of high vibes and high fives.
We rallied for group laps, celebrated at the top of the hill with a toast, and shredded together in the name of JBC and good times.
The festivities continued with an afterparty at the 10 Mile Tavern with raffles and giveaways hosted by the regional Rocky Mountain Burton team, who provided drinks and snacks for all shredders in attendance.
It was truly a special day, bringing together snowboarders from every corner of the state and beyond.
We rode to remember and will continue to ride because snowboarding brings us together.
