The ninth annual fundraiser for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team was held on Saturday, September 21, in St. Louis, Missouri, hosted by Stifel Financial Corporationsโs CEO Ron Kruszewski and his partner Amanda Perkins.
The private event is held in St. Louis every year and attracts a crowd of several hundred donors who raise valuable funds to support the U.S. Teamโs athletes. Like last yearโs event, the 2024 fundraiser managed to raise $1 million for the U.S. skiers and boarders.
This yearโs fundraiser was themed โ80s Aprรจs Skiโ and saw guests in their best 80s party attire. U.S. Freeski Team member Alex Ferreira rocked a retro fluro-yellow jacket, while U.S. mogul skier Jaelin Kauf went for some good-old stonewashed denim paired with a fanny pack. Mikaela Shiffrin went for an early 80s look with a blouson-cut retro jacket by German brand Adidas.
The event in St. Louis is the U.S. Ski & Snowboardingโs largest annual fundraiser. All funds raised will go towards the U.S. Ski & Snowboard teams. The U.S. does not have federal funding for its snowsport athletes. A lot of funding is therefore derived from corporate sponsorships and fundraisers. Stifel Financial Corporation, a St. Louis-based investment bank, extended its sponsorship across from the U.S. Alpine Team to the Freestyle, Freeski, and Cross-Country disciplines in March last year. U.S. Snowboarding is sponsored by Hydro Flask.
