With winter knocking on the door and fall fading fast, Palisades Tahoe is prepared for another unforgettable season full of skiing and events. After historic snowfall during the 2022-2023 season brought enjoyable skiing and riding through Independence Day, it is now time to get back to it. Mother Nature has dropped by and blanketed the mountain from summit to base with a bit of snowfall, and the snow-making team has been working hard, accounting for some added excitement ahead of another great season.
All season long, Palisades Tahoe will host many events, providing fun and endless memories for all ages. From opening-day festivities to the return of the Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup, Pain McShlonkey, and the Mothership classic through to the spring Cushing Crossing, this season is shaping to be a blast, as always! With that being said, few places can throw world-class events during and after a day of world-class skiing. Who knows, hopefully this winter’s strong El Niño will be reminiscent of the 2016-2017 season.
Opening Day and A December to Remember
To kick things off this year, Palisades Tahoe opened the day before Thanksgiving. Although it was a small opening with only First Venture spinning, there was still a small park setup with three features. Even with the lack of natural snowfall, both sides of the resort are steadily increasing operations as conditions allow. Plans and operations can be followed all season on social media and Palisades’ website.
This season, the après ski party really kicks off when Tahoe Live brings out Rezz and DJ Diesel (aka Shaquille O’Neal) for two nights of electrifying performances. On Friday, December 15, Rezz will headline to commence the season before DJ Diesel takes center stage on Saturday, December 16. There is no doubt this will be a welcome-back-winter weekend to remember.
The Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup
The Audi FIS Ski World Cup Tour will be making four stops in the United States this year, and from February 23-25, 2024, it will be back at Palisades Tahoe. These mountains have seen and bred countless Olympic, World Cup, and legendary Freeride athletes, and once again, will bring athletes from all around the world to compete in men’s slalom and men’s giant slalom. You can catch all the action slope-side as World Cup skiers fly by you towards the finish line. In addition to the race itself, the weekend is filled with other exciting events for all ages, such as parades, outdoor concerts, and fireworks.
Spring Time Fun in the Snow and Sun
WinterWonderGrass- Tahoe is easily one of the coolest concerts and events I have attended. From April 5-7, 2024, gaze away in awe at the tram face and surrounding mountains while bluegrass and Americana musicians jam on three covered, heated stages and one open-air outdoor mainstage. There is a free Thursday Kickoff Show in the Plaza at the base of Palisades to set the vibes for the wonderful weekend. Being outside under the moon and stars, with fresh snow falling from the sky as you dance and jam away the night with friends and strangers, is an invigorating feeling like no other.
The annual Cushing Crossing is another must-not-miss event that will have you anxiously awaiting what will happen to the next skier or rider attempting to cross the pond. This season, on May 10, 2024 (conditions permitting), gather around the slope and the KT Base Bar for a truly one-of-a-kind, real-deal spring pond skim. Hilarious costumes will be sending it across the pond. Sunny, slushy turns at The Spring Skiing Capital—all-time vibes and weather. Properly send the season off in style and check out the 32nd annual Cushing Crossing at Palisades Tahoe.
Winter in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is absolutely spectacular to begin with. Combine that with 6,000 acres of terrain, 400 inches of annual snowfall, a unique location situated next to beautiful Lake Tahoe, and an unparalleled après ski scene and event calendar, and you wind up with countless reasons to visit Palisades Tahoe this season, and ultimately any chance you can. The time is officially upon us; do your snow dances, prepare your gear, wax your skis and boards, and don’t miss out on the endless action, adventure, and amazing memories all year long.
