Norway Mountain in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula may not be entirely done with winter just yet.
In a surprise announcement on social media on Wednesday, the resort revealed it had discovered a “hidden treasure” of over seven feet of snow still on the mountain. If conditions hold and snow can be pushed out successfully, the ski area plans to reopen this Saturday, May 3, for one final day of the 2024–25 season.
Crews are working to prepare the Elf and Lower Leipter trails, which will be serviced by the Triple Chair. If successful, it would mark a rare May ski day in the Midwest and a celebratory bonus for skiers who thought the season was already over.
“We’re SO close to skiing in May!” the resort posted. “Let’s cheer our team on.”
Norway Mountain previously wrapped up its regular season in April. The resort has not yet announced lift ticket pricing or operational hours for Saturday, but updates are expected soon via the resort’s social media channels.
