No need to search the internet for hours, looking for affordable but dependable gear; The North Face is starting to sell refurbished gear online! The North Face renewal system has a wide variety of clothing that’s been refurbished and remade by The Renewal Workshop and sold online for a much lower price. Every year 85% of textiles produced ends up in landfills, and The North Face, REI, and Patagonia are determined to change this. REI and Patagonia have blazed a trail for marketing recycled gear and clothes and rebuilding them to their original state.
Here’s how it works: The renewable gear is cleaned up, and then repaired to its original state. The repair could be anything from replacing a button to sewing up a tear. Then the gear goes through a testing phase to make sure it’s up to snuff with the gear sold on the original site. It’s a zero-waste system that keeps gear out of landfills and allows companies to restore their gear to serve more customers.
The North Face renewal program is in pilot mode as of right now, but if the site is a success then the renewal program may eventually accept customer return in store to be added to The North Face Renewal company. See what they’re about on their website.
