NOAA: Winter Weather Advisory Issued For CA | 1+ Feet of Snow Above 7,000ft Wednesday – Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for California. It is in effect from 4:00pm Wednesday Afternoon – 10:00am Thursday morning. The heaviest snowfall is forecasted to occur between 6:00pm Wednesday Night and 2:00am Thursday Morning. A strong cold front is expected to accompany this precipitation, so snow levels are forecasted to be relatively low.

On Wednesday, snow levels are forecasted to start out around 4,000-6,000ft and are expected to drop down to 2,000-3,000ft by the time Thursday rolls around.

TO 10 AM PST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions,
 including during the evening commute on Wednesday. Total snow
 accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, with localized amounts up to 14
 inches above 7000 feet.

* WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

* WHEN...From 4 PM Wednesday to 10 AM PST Thursday. Heaviest snow
 most likely between 6 PM and 2 AM.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for reduced visibilities at
 times with gusty winds producing areas of blowing snow.
 Localized whiteout conditions possible over the Sierra passes.
