Lake Tahoe Storm Totals & Photo Tour | 26" at Mt. Rose, NV

Mt. Rose ski resort in Nevada was the big winner from this storm and it’s no surprise. Mt. Rose never saw any rain with their above 8,000-foot base and they’re reveling in 26″ of new snow this morning and it’s still snowing. Rose had winds up to 134mph yesterday.

The storm was ferocious with 100mph winds, highway 80 closing for a bit, big snow, big rain and up to 7-foot waves on the lake.

Forecasts were saying that below 8,000-feet, this storm was going to drop only rain. Luckily, the storm ended up colder than forecasted and we got some snow all the way down to lake level yesterday. Then, temperatures rose and we got rain on top of that snow at lake level and higher…

NOAA is saying that it might snow a lot more this weekend into monday.

AN ADDITIONAL 1-2 FEET OF HIGH ELEVATION SNOWFALL MAINLY ABOVE 8000 FEET IS POSSIBLE ALONG THE CREST. ONCE SNOW LEVELS DROP WITH THE FRONT, 2-4" INCHES IS POSSIBLE TO AROUND 5500 FEET. SPILLOVER POTENTIAL LOOKS GOOD WITH THIS SYSTEM WITH GOOD FORCING AND INSTABILITY PRESENT.
