As technology continues to advance, we inherently reap the benefits of remarkable innovation in the ski and snowboard industry. Now, Powster Studios is looking for backers to help fund their recently revealed Neo One Smart Ski Goggles on Kickstarter. The campaign, which started on Monday, October 23, has just about reached the $5,000 goal at the time of writing.
These new goggles look to combine standard functionality with the extra wants and needs of many skiers and snowboarders. Let’s take a look at a couple of the key features they provide.
*My partner received a pair of these goggles from Powster Studios to try out this season. Here is a basic sneak peek into the new product before the official launch. I have no affiliation with the brand.*
Built-in Headphones
With integrated Bluetooth headphones as well as an intercom that connects to the Powster walkie-talkies, playing music and staying in touch while on the mountain should be much easier. The speakers are built into the strap next to the edge of the lens, and the sound quality was on par with what I would expect. With the integrated speakers, excess cords and the possibility of losing any wireless pods are eliminated. In addition, you can flip from your music to the walkie-talkie intercom with just the click of a button on the frame of the goggles.
Heated Lenses
A detachable module attaches by cord to an insert in the goggles to help keep the lenses fog-free in harsh conditions. The module can attach to the side of the goggle strap or can detach and hang freely roughly five inches down from the bottom of the goggles. Additionally, there are three different heat settings to help minimize fogging while still maintaining the six-hour battery life. Lastly, the lenses are Zeiss SPXTRA Pro, which use triple-layer technology further helping to eliminate fog and frost while enhancing clarity.
From the Bluetooth-connected, built-in headphones with walkie-talkie compatibility, to the heated SPXTRA Pro lenses, the Powster Neo One Smart goggles seem to provide a few extra bells and whistles without sacrificing functionality. Powster is offering several different early-bird package deals on its Kickstarter starting at $220 and going up to $452.
