The Wild Spur Express chairlift at Winter Park Resort, Colorado, took its maiden voyage this morning as recent snowfall enabled the resort to open its Vasquez Ridge territory.
The high-speed 6-pack, which boasts an impressive capacity of 2,800 people per hour, replaces the aging Pioneer Express 4-pack and features a new mid-station, allowing for quicker laps and smoother access to the area’s intermediate and advanced trails. Today’s opening day featured two banner breaks to celebrate the new mid-station.
“After months of hard work from our crews, we’re happy to say: Wild Spur is now open! (And we celebrated with not just 1 banner break, but two.) This high-speed 6-pack serves Vasquez Ridge and has a new mid-load station so you can pack more turns into your day on the mountain.
PS: What’s better than a new lift? 15″ of new snow in the past week to ski down on and some blue skies to enjoy it all under. See you on the Wild Spur this season!”

In addition to the new chairlift, Winter Park Resort has introduced several other notable developments this season. One of the key projects is Conifer Commons, a new employee housing complex with over 330 beds, making it one of the largest workforce housing projects completed in Colorado this year. Located close to the resort, Conifer Commons is set to provide convenient accommodation for employees, further enhancing the resort’s community.
Moreover, the resort offers new experiences to enhance guests’ skiing and riding skills. It has introduced 60-Minute Pro Tips for intermediate and advanced skiers and riders seeking quick, effective instruction. An Early Ups pass has also been made available, granting up to 30 minutes of early lift access and allowing guests to enjoy their favorite terrain before the general opening.
The Sundog Tap Room is a new addition for dining and relaxation, located in the heart of the Village. This tap room offers a unique self-serve experience with over 30 taps featuring local Colorado brews and standard favorites, accompanied by cocktails, wine, and sharable bar nibbles. New on-mountain pop-up dining spots are also available for quick and convenient food options.
Lastly, the resort is streamlining its equipment rental services with the Zero Creek Gear House, adjacent to the Gondola, making it an accessible location for premium and demo gear rentals. Additionally, Ski Butlers, a service providing selection, fittings, gear drop-off and pick-up, and on-mountain support, is now available at Winter Park Resort.
With 110” so far this season and a 34” base, Winter Park Resort offers the second most snowfall in Colorado this season.
