At 10,171-feet high, the remains of a skier and some of his equipment were found on July 22nd of 2005 starting the mystery of a supposed Italian skier. The remains were found in the Aosta Valley in a glacier at Valtournenche in Cime Bianche, Italy. The incident happened close to the current small ski town, Breuil-Cervinia in Italy.
Italian police have been grasping at straws for a decade now, trying to figure out who the missing skier is. Luckily, in 2017, two experts in Turin released their evidence and concluded that the man was probably not Italian at all, but a well-off 30-year-old Frenchman.
The police are hoping that even though the skier died over 60 years ago, that the power of the internet and social media will help spread the word and lead them to their mystery skier.
The man was reported to be about 5 ft 5 inches tall and he was wearing a green shirt when he disappeared with the initials MM embroidered.
He was sporting Rossignol Olympic 7200-210 and his ski poles were made with metal suggesting he was a high-end skier with some money. A watch, glasses and a Breuil-Cervinia ski ticket also came with the body
