Mont Sutton, Quebec, has announced that it has purchased a SkyTrac Quad chairlift, which will be installed for the start of the 2026-27 season. This new chairlift will replace the existing I, I Ouest, and II Ouest double chairs and will service the entire western sector of the mountain. Additionally, the new chair will provide much-needed relief for Chair II, the main lift at the resort.
The new fixed-grip SkyTrac chairlift, manufactured by Leitner Poma, will be the first one installed in Canada and will have a capacity of 2,400 skiers per hour. The lift will also feature a moving conveyor belt for easy loading for beginners and RFID access gates.
As part of the same development plan, the magic carpet lift will be relocated, and a new conveyor lift will also be installed to improve the beginner experience at the resort. Upgrades to snowmaking in these areas will also be made, along with the installation of RFID gates at all lifts at the resort.

The addition of the new chairlift is part of a larger development project that includes mountain bike trails, a zipline, a zipline coaster, a disc golf course, and camping sites. The total project cost is estimated to be around 11 million CAD (8 million USD) and is made possible by a 5 million CAD (3.6 million USD) grant from the government of Quebec.
Mont Sutton may not be the tallest mountain, but it provides some of the best glade terrain in the east. These glades range from highly technical, tight trees to low-grade, spaced-out beginner glades, making it a perfect resort for progressing and improving your glade skiing.
Although Sutton does not experience the crowds of many other major East Coast resorts south of the border, lift lines are not uncommon on weekends and holidays. This new chairlift should help alleviate these lines at peak times and improve the overall resort experience.
