Mammoth Mountain will officially close for the winter season on June 15, capping off an extended season marked by persistent snow coverage and strong skier turnout. The announcement, shared by the resort on Tuesday, comes as most ski areas across the Western United States have already shut down their operations for the season. Mammoth, however, continues to capitalize on its high-elevation terrain and deep snowpack, offering lift-accessed skiing well into June.

“We’re deep in Second Season and not letting up until June 15,” the resort stated on social media. “Come join the party.”

Between now and closing day, lifts are scheduled to operate daily from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mammoth encourages skiers and riders to take advantage of the early morning conditions as daytime temperatures continue to rise.

Mammoth is known for its long spring seasons, often staying open into late May or June depending on snow conditions. Its longevity continues to set it apart as one of the premier destinations for spring skiing in North America. This year’s extended schedule follows a winter that saw above-average snowfall across California’s Sierra Nevada. The June 15 closing date offers one last opportunity for skiers and snowboarders to make turns before the summer season begins in earnest. Resort activities will transition to mountain biking, hiking, and summer events in the weeks following.
