Mammoth Mountain in California saw 18-26″ of new snowย from the latest storm. ย Today was the first bluebird day.

The snow up high was wind packed and smooth and not exactly soft but damn fun.

Actually, Jamie told me today after skiing: ย “Strangely enough, that was on of my top 5 favorite days of the year.”

It was a great day for going fast and making huge turns.

Avalanche control kept the upper mountain closed until about 11:30am. ย There were some huge avalanche control work avalanches at Mammoth today.

Once they opened it, it was a feeding frenzy. ย We lapped the upper mountain hard until the snow was nice and tracked at about 1:30pm.

Such a fun day. ย

Sunny, cold, building winds through the day, but not too bad.

Mammoth is sitting on a 190-330″ snowpack and we believe it. ย I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mammoth so fat with snow…

It’s going to be a great spring up here in Mammoth and they’re scheduled to be open daily until at least the 4th of July.
