KSL, the ownerโ€™s of Squaw Valley ski resort, have just publicly released a model of what their proposed village would look like. ย Make no mistake, this village would be a major change to the area in many significant ways.

If approved, the village would be built in 3 phases. ย Phase 1 (see photo above) would take 5 years to complete. ย Phase 2 & 3 would be developed barring the success of the the Phase 1 and would take 10 years to complete.

This model reveals a village that will include 100 acres, a 132,000-square foot aquatic/adventure center, and 1,000 residential units.

This village plan is ambitious, big, and would take 10-15 years to complete. ย By then, the Alpine-Squaw-Whitewolf connection should be done.

MAJOR QUESTIONS TO BE ADDRESSED:

1. ย Can highway 89 and Squaw Valley Rd. handle this kind of traffic?

2. ย Will this village be a major economic boost to local residents?

3. ย Is the local community behind this project?

4. ย What environmental impact will this village have on local flora and fauna

5. ย How will this affect crowds at the ski resort, especially on holidays
