What a day it was for Team USA: Jessie Diggins won the Tour de Ski last Sunday, January 8, 2024, while Sophia Laukli won her first-ever World Cup as the fastest cross country skier of the seventh stage of the Tour de Ski.
Jessie Diggins has won the Tour de Ski for the second time, after previously winning in 2021. The American cross country skier had no problems maintaining her lead in the overall classification for the seventh day in a row. Diggins has gone from strength to strength in the coveted seven-day event.
American Sophia Laukli, however, was first across the finish line on stage seven of the Tour de Ski, beating experienced Heidi Weng from Norway in the last few meters. Delphine Claudel of France came third on the seventh stage of the Tour de Ski.
In the overall rankings of the Tour de Ski, Diggins beat Heidi Weng to second place and Kerttu Niskanen to third on the tour podium.
