Jay Peak Resort, Vermont, will open its slopes for skiing and snowboarding this Saturday, June 21, in a rare seasonal crossover event that merges snow sports, live music, and community engagement.
The Second Annual Solstice Sessions, recently recognized as a 2025 Vermont Signature Event, will transform the resort’s Stateside area into a multi-sport and cultural gathering. Organizers have preserved snow from the winter season to construct a custom terrain park, allowing guests to ski and ride well into summer—a novelty in the Northeast. One of North America’s snowiest resorts last winter, it sealed away 128,000 cubic feet of snow–about 40% more than last year’s stash.
The event will also feature skateboarding, a full day of live music, and a Battle of the Bands, culminating in a headline performance by the Round Trip Band. Activities begin at noon, with the Stateside Amphitheater hosting regional artists throughout the afternoon and evening. Concert-only tickets are available for $15 in advance and $25 on the day of the event, with on-snow access offered in limited blocks.

In addition to recreation and entertainment, the Solstice Sessions will support local initiatives. Jay Peak Resort has pledged $1,500 to Montgomery Smiles, a nonprofit working to build a community skate park, and will donate half of all concert ticket revenue after expenses to the organization.
“Our goal is to celebrate the solstice by bringing together the best of both seasons,” event organizers said in a statement. “We want to create an experience that’s as much about community as it is about adventure.”
The Stateside Amphitheater, which accommodates up to 3,000 guests, will operate rain or shine. Security measures and medical staff will be present; guests are encouraged to review the venue’s policies before arrival. Lodging packages are available, though overnight camping is prohibited on site.
