โBig Redโ Kicks Off Summer Activities In Jackson Hole.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR), Wyoming, is pleased to announce that its world-famous Aerial Tram will be open to the public starting May 17, marking the official kickoff of summer operations at the resort.
Built in 2008 and gliding skyward 4,139 vertical feet from the base in Teton Village to the top of Rendezvous Mountain at 10,450 feet in just 12 minutes, the Aerial Tramโaffectionately nicknamed โBig Redโโis one of the most popular attractions in Jackson Hole and the Northern Rockies. Guests will experience the iconic ride and have the opportunity to spot wildlife along the ride. Upon reaching the summit, the Aerial Tramโs doors open to stunning, 360-degree views of the Teton Range, Jackson Hole valley, and the Snake River.
JHMR encourages guests to explore the “Top of the World” experience, featuring the Grand Teton Skywalk, Cody Peak Lookout, a wide network of hiking trails that allow exploration of the Bridger-Teton National Forest or Grand Teton National Park, and educational signage that describes the natural history of the area. The Aerial Tram will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May 17 through Oct. 6. For day ticket pricing and more information, click here.
The opening of the Aerial Tram is the first in a series of summer activities for visitors to enjoy at the resort. Many of JHMRโs other warm-weather highlights, including the Jackson Hole Bike Park, acclaimed Via Ferrata, aerial adventure course, bungee trampoline, climbing wall, and Bridger Gondola, open in June. โWeโre always thrilled to announce the opening of the Aerial Tram, because it marks the official beginning of summer at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The tram is the highest point that many people will access in the Tetons. There are wonderful hiking opportunities and 360-degree views, and skiing is still available in the backcountry. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to experience the unique adventures our Aerial Tram offers,โ said Tim Mason, JHMR vice president of operations.
JHMR also announced that it will complete scheduled upgrades to the kitchen and food service areas at Corbetโs Cabin by Saturday, and that it will be open to customers hungry for the cabinโs famous Top of the World Waffles. Located at the summit of Rendezvous Mountain, Corbetโs Cabin was ranked the second-best ski restaurant in the U.S. by USA Today in 2024.
Because ofย the persistence of early-season conditions, guests visiting the resort in May and early June should bring suitable clothing to stay warm and dry. Guests are allowed to ski in the backcountry accessible through the resortโs backcountry gates located near the top of the Aerial Tram, but as part of JHMRโs special use permit with Bridger-Teton National Forest, no skiing is permitted within the ski area boundary after the winter operating season. No uphill skiing is allowed, and there are no ski patrol representatives on duty.
