Just in time for the ski season to really get going, J Skis out of Burlington, Vermont, just released a radical new pair of ski blades honoring Shane McConkey. The SB Saucerboy Promodel X-Treme II McConkey x J Skis collaboration was made in a limited edition run, and there are only a few pairs left out of the 300 produced at the time of writing. For just $349 you can call a pair your own.
Shane McConkey, the inventor of the powder ski, also created his goofy ski-blading alter-ego, Saucer Boy. This incredible character came about while recovering from an injury, basically making fun of anyone who takes themselves and skiing too seriously. Palisades Tahoe in California hosts the Pain McShlonkey Classic, which also falls on International Snowblade Day, in Shane’s honor.
J Skis brought these beauties to life with the help of Sherry McConkey for their second collaborative pair of ski blades. The first were even more limited with only 150 available pairs which sold out in just 15 minutes. Get these new, one-of-a-kind blades, earn some GNAR points, and contribute to helping out over 56 nonprofits thanks to the Shane McConkey Foundation. A generous portion of the profits from the sales of the Saucer Boy skis go directly to the McConkey family.
Sherry started the Shane McConkey Foundation to support epic causes that protect kids, wildlife, and our planet. Over the years, nearly $890,000 of donations have helped carry on Shane’s legacy inspiring others to make a difference in the world. It is amazing seeing J Skis once again commemorate and contribute with Saucer Boy ski blades meant to “Stick Uphill Ice” and keep the spirit of Shane alive and shining!
J Skis was founded by Jason Levinthal in 2013 after he left his first start up Line Skis.
