After a promising early start to the 2025 snow season, Falls Creek, Australia, is set to expand its terrain offerings this coming weekend. The resort announced on its social media channels that Eagle Express and Drovers Dream chairlifts will open this Friday, June 13, followed by the Gully Chair on Saturday, June 14, providing broader access across the resort and into the Village Bowl area. (For our American readers: a drover is the Australian version of a cowboy—except they tend to drive livestock over far bigger distances across the Australian outback than a cowboy typically does.)
This next phase of lift openings comes less than a week after Falls Creek kicked off its season on Sunday, June 8, following a season-opening storm. The storm brought around 71 centimeters (28 inches) to the Victorian resort—the most of any resort in Australia—setting up the Vail Resorts owned ski area for the 2025 season. On Sunday, the resort kicked off the season with Halley’s Comet chairlift and Mouse Trap carpet, offering laps on Wombat’s Ramble—Australia’s longest green run.
Since then, Falls Creek’s mountain team has been working around the clock to prepare additional terrain, digging out lift load areas, de-icing chairs, and conducting thorough safety checks. The result: Eagle Express and Drovers Dream will now spin from Friday, unlocking key intermediate terrain, while Gully Chair’s opening on Saturday will improve access to the Village Bowl — a major hub for resort activity.
Guests are also reminded that only one week remains to secure an Epic Australia Pass or 4-Day Pass, providing access to Falls Creek, Hotham, and Perisher, as well as 75 top international resorts in North America and Japan during the Northern Hemisphere season. With snow on the ground, lifts spinning, and more terrain opening daily, the 2025 season at Falls Creek is well and truly underway — and momentum is building fast.
