This being said, Alaska is not all about skiing; there is much more on offer. The potential for amazing experiences on offer makes Alyeska Resorts the perfect place to have a trip of a lifetime.
But there is more to Alaska in winter than heli and cat skiing. Around Alyeska Resort, you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding, Alaska’s First Nordic Spa, viewing the northern lights, sightseeing via helicopter, or relaxing at the spa, just to name a few things.
Alyeska Resort Hosts Alaska’s First Nordic Spa Experience
After a day on the snow or on a well-earned rest day, you can visit Alaska’s First Nordic Spa. It is located in the stunning grounds of Alyeska Resort. The Nordic-style spa is a unique experience that allows you to enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy. It is a purely exquisite way to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect to nature.
There are hot and cold pools, saunas, steam rooms, and other spa experiences to complete your experience in the 50,000 sq. ft. facility. The spa experience is immersed in the northernmost rainforest, making the location out of this world.
Please note it is an 18+ facility.
The spa also offers the ultimate apres-ski environment with the stunning Two Trees Bistro. The bistro offers a sublime menu inspired by the wild landscapes of Alaska and is the perfect place to kick back and have a nourishing meal or relaxing drink.
Take A Heli-Skiing Cat-Skiing Tour
It goes without saying, of course, we are going to recommend you go on a Heli-Skiing Cat-Skiing Tour. The Chugach Mountain range is world-famous for its miles of steep powder skiing, alpine bowls, glistening glaciers, colossal mountain faces, and sheltered trees.
When you go Heli-skiing in Alyeska, you’ll usually average about 10,000 vertical feet over six runs, taking you to the mountains with the highest-quality powder snow and well-elevated terrain. You’ll get to experience the gladed trees, steeps, open powder fields, rocky features, and sweet pillow lines.
Cat skiing has been offered in Girdwood by CPG since 1998. The world-class cat skiing is available during seasons with adequate low-elevation snow cover, which can be less dependable at times, with the product sold as a backup to a semi-private package for guests. CPG does its best to make a snowcat backup available to charters and day ski groups when possible. The snowcat ski seats go on sale on sunny days during the season once the cat has been released by heli operations.
View The Northern Lights
Viewing the Northern Lights is a big bucket list thing for many people, and they can usually be seen at Alyeska Resort all winter long until April. Getting to see the lights is mesmerizing as the glow of solar particles paints the sky in the winter. The starry nights are nature’s perfect backdrop for the Aurora Borealis, where multi-hued light dances quickly.
The best northern displays are accompanied by sub-zero temperatures and moonless skies.
Take A Snowshoe In Alyeska’s Scenery
On down days from the big vertical chasing days, you might like to take a snowshoeing adventure. Why not look at Alyeska’s scenery at a slower pace? You might be able to see some of the wildlife.
Snowshoeing through Moose Meadows and the surrounding trails at the base of Mt. Alyeska is a great way to explore Alyeska’s backyard.
