The current Colorado snowpack as measured by SNOTEL is off the charts. ย One reading yesterday even came up with southwest Colorado having a snowpack 8,650% ofย normal…

Today, the SNOTEL graph left that 8,650% zone without a value so we can assume that was some sort of error.

Today's SNOTEL snowpack analysis excludes a value for that 8,650% zone.

Nevertheless, north central Colorado is sporting a snowpack 585% ofย average and that’s hugely above average. ย Central Colorado is at 323% ofย average, southwest Colorado is at 151% above average, and south central Colorado is at 233% above average.

Colorado just had it’s wettest May in 121 years of recording keeping.

If there was every a year to go out and ski Coloroado’s 54 14,000-foot peaks, it’s this year.

In contrast, the rest of the west out side of Colorado is hurting bad. ย All of these zones should be displaying numbers somewhere around 100% of normal. ย Instead, most of the west has almost no snowpack left right now. ย All of California, Oregon, and Washington are at about 0% of average.
