Yesterday Copper saw spring sun with a cold midwinter snowpack.

Last weekend we finally got some snow after a long, warm stretch.ย The mountainย got a much-needed refresher.

Temps quickly warmed up and the sun came out to play.ย We were expecting more spring conditions, but serious winds kept the snow cold!

North and east aspectsโ€”especially off Union Peak and Spauldingโ€”wereย soft, fast andย consistent.ย The soft chop and wind-recycled pow were perfect for knifing GS turns.

Tucker Mountain was closed, but looked FAT. Patrol was up there all day gettingย things open. Give your local patroller a high-five, they’re working hard!

Mountain Chief and Resolution had some residual ice from the great thaw, but in spots (like Bradley’s) the wind smoothed things out and made for awesome skiing.ย Later in the day, the groomers under American Flyer providedย perfect hero turns.ย

Colder weather is moving back inโ€”snow is in the forecast for the rest of the week, with up to 12″ by the weekend.
