Out There Colorado has outlined the perfect weekend itinerary if you’re visiting Boulder, Colorado. 

Boulder lies northwest of Denver, at the foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains. There’s so much to do in this town, outdoors and in, that visiting for just a weekend might feel overwhelming. Follow this guide and you’re in for a great time!

Day One

  • Hit up the Boulder Farmer’s Market for breakfast. 
  • Hike the Flatirons. Start at Chautauqua Park, follow the Chautauqua and Royal Arch Trails for a nice 3.2 mile out and back hike. Great views of the city and plenty of climbing opportunities around here as well for those seeking more adventure.
  • Find a lunch spot at the Pearl Street MallSome recommendations include The Kitchen and Lucile’s Creole Cafe.
  • Visit the National Center For Atmospheric Research’s Mesa LaboratoryLearn about clouds, the sun and atmospheric layers while checking out the building’s unique architecture, designed by I.M. Pei.
  • Some other cool places to check out are the Celestial Seasonings factory and the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art.
  • Dinner recommendations include Brassiere Ten Ten and Rincon Argentino.

Day Two

  • Some recommendations for breakfast include Foolish Craig’s Cafe and Walnut Cafe.
  • Head out to El Dorado State Canyon ParkEndless options for hiking and climbing here.
  • Drive through Boulder Canyon on Highway 119. Quick stop at Boulder Falls before continuing on to the town of Nederland.
  • Some lunch recommendations include Kathmandu Restaurant and Crosscut Pizzeria. 
  • Head back to Boulder.
  • A great way to spend the afternoon is to rent a bike! Hundreds of miles of bike path include mellow rides like the Boulder Creek Path or more challenging rides like the Marshall Mesa trials and the Canyon Loop Trail.
  • Finish the weekend with a drive up Flagstaff Mountain Road to Panorama Point.
