VIDEO: Kelly Slater Just Pulled-Off an Impossible Trick in CA While competing in the Lower Trestles Wolrd Surf League competitions in California yesterday, 43-year-old 11 time world champion Kelly Slater launched an air that he likely hoped would be a 360º. He got off-kilter, off-axis, off his rocker, and lost the board from his feet mid-flight. No worries, he landed right on the board in the whitewash, grabbed it, popped back up on it, and proceeded to finish destroying the wave he was riding. To us, this should have scored him an enormous score. But judges only gave him a 4.17 out of a possible 10. They docked him because he did essentially fall down and lose control for an instant. Entire Town Tries to Save 14-Foot Great White Shark on Cape Cod “I told my husband this morning that if he went surfing, he was going to get eaten by a shark. He told me I was crazy. Shark Attacks Surfer in California & Takes Chuck Out of Surfboard A great white shark bit a large chunk out of a woman’s surfboard last weekend at Morro Strand State Beach near San Luis Obispo, CA. Elinor Dempsey was shook up but completely uninjured after her shark encounter on Saturday morning. Swell Saturday: Deep Barrel to 20-Foot Alley Oop! Jordy Smith is a pro surfer from South Africa who surfs on the World Surfing League. On a down day last week, Jordy went yard on a wave in Australia called North Point. He gets a ridiculously deep barrel, then bottom turns out of the wave and fing launches himself into outer space. Jordy travels about 20-feet through the air doing an Alley-Oop before landing perfecting back on the wave and surfing on. Unreal. What’s even cooler is that Jordy is a big dude. I don’t think anybody would dispute that.” – Will Trubridge, a 15-time free diving world-record holder 53-year-old Russian free diver Natalia Molchanova is often considered the greatest free diver in history. Today she is missing after a free dive off the coast of Formentera, an island near Ibiza. The dive she was performing was a recreational dive to a depth that was easy for her.
