No Place quite like Taos New Mexico

After doing reports and skiing amazing powder at Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee, and Alta, I felt that Taos would be a good throw back to appreciate where I come from. It was the day after Christmas and the report was showing 10in of overnight snow at Taos. I headed there with my brother, a legend in his own mind, and local legend, Todd Stewart. I knew the combination of great snow, good people, and an epic mountain would add up to the perfect day.the Blake Family, who owned the ski mountain since its inception in 1955, sold the entire mountain to billionaire Louis Beacon. Within in the first year, Mr. Beacon began a renaissance of sorts, installing a summer bike park and remodeling the base and village.

Grand Targhee, WY: North America’s Secret Powder Stash

A good friend of mine and ski partner grew up skiing Grand Targhee and throughout our friendship over the past two years he always spoke of how consistently great and deep the snow was at the Wyoming resort. He told stories of epic powder stashes and this selectable cliff band that no other resort could offer. After all the talk we finally put together a trip and timing could not have been better, currently based on my research Wyoming has the deepest snow pack in the united states and thus offering the best resort skiing, the cascades are not too far behind either but the Tetons were the ticket.
