Power Day at Snowbird and Alta, UT! | Video Proof Yesterday we reported about the first Winter Weather Advisory of the year. The storm rolled in as expected but under performed slightly. In general, Snowbird and Alta received about 8 inches at mid-mountain over night. I was at Snowbird today and can vouch for that 8 inches and more in the proper aspects (over 18 inches in select locals). You will hear me say this time and time again this winter, when skiing at Snowbird and Alta you need to be conscious of your aspect in relation to the winds and storm direction at all times for […] Conditions Report Kyler Roush | October 14, 2013 0 Comments
Snowbird and Alta, Utah | First Winter Weather Advisory Of The Year Here in Northern Utah we had a seemingly short fall. After the hottest summer on record in Salt Lake City several weeks ago things changed over night to very fall-esque weather. However fall as we think of it did not last long. The Wasatch has been receiving a winter storm each week for now the 4th week running. Nothing has been […] Weather Kyler Roush | October 13, 2013 1 Comment
Arapahoe Basin, Colorado Opens Sunday, Oct 13th | Photo Tour It appears that Arapahoe Basin will be the first resort that we are aware of to open skiing and riding to the general public and it’s only 2 days away! Arapahoe was one of the first resorts to turn on their snow-guns on September 27th and have been blasting snow as much as conditions have permitted them to. Snowbird Annouces Changes To Its Parking Policies The last few months the bars, climbing crags, trails and inter-webs have been abound with rumors on proposed parking changes at Snowbird. Not surprising was that nearly every rumor I had heard was flat out wrong. Some of the most egregious accused Snowbird of attempting to charge for any and all parking and that couldn’t be further from the truth! The Facts: Snowbird has 2,800 parking […] Kyler Roush | October 11, 2013 0 Comments
Knee Deep Snow @ Snowbird and Alta, Utah w/ 5-9” More Today | Indepth Photo Tour I reported over a week ago that the Wasatch was going to get it’s first snow. Well, the weather man and myself were wrong. Instead of snow levels at 8,500 feet we ended up with snow levels at about 11,200 feet. Only a few peaks in the Wasatch top out above that and received barely a skiff of snow. HOWEVER, we were right about a second system coming in on Wednesday. Yesterday the snow started at around 10am at 10,000 feet. By 2pm the snow levels had plummeted to 8,000 feet and continued to drop […] Weather Kyler Roush | September 27, 2013 3 Comments
Behind The Scenes of the Coors Light Commercials | Thirsty Thursday Regardless your opinion of what constitutes a great beer I think it can be agreed that Coors Light at least knows how to make a solid commercial. One of their most popular commercials to date “Ascent” was filmed in the Chugach Mountains of Southern Alaska outside of the Girdwood and Valdez areas, along with several others. Snowboarding legend Jeremy Jones even took time out of his personal […] Kyler Roush | September 19, 2013 1 Comment

Kayaking Flooded Boulder Creek, Elephant Buttress on September 12th, 2013 Portions of Colorado have been ravaged lately by unprecedented amounts of rain. Some areas of Colorado have received over 9 inches of rain in only 3 days. One town saw 6.5 inches in only 18 hours. This has caused intense flash flooding that has cut off towns from help due to swollen rivers swallowing roads and bridges. Despite all the destruction, […] Friday Fun Kyler Roush | September 13, 2013 1 Comment
