Alta is for Skiers | Judge Dismisses Snowboarders’ Lawsuit

Alta Ski Area is known for some of the deepest powder on the planet and its policy banning snowboarders from their lifts. Because of this, Alta “Ski” Area has been in the cross-hairs of Snowboarders for years who wish they could ride the lifts, and now thanks to U.S. District Court Judge Dee Benson, Alta can breathe a sigh of relief. If you haven’t been following the debate for nearly the last year, a group called Wasatch Equality has claimed their 14th Amendment rights were being violated by Alta Ski Area for not allowing them […]

Snowbird, UT Conditions Report | Big Pow on June 18th

Today it was hard to discern between it being April 18th or a June 18th powder day. The deciding factor ended up being a couple of things. Green trees everywhere being crushed by the weight of a foot of new snow and the lack of lifts running. As nice as lifts are it certainly isn’t a limiting factor when it comes to skiing creamy SUMMER POW. Line choices of the day included: Silver Fox through Rock Chute, Run-out of North Chute, Tram Cables, Run […]

Jackson Hole, WY Conditions Report | Sun, Powder and Waffles | 3/12/14

What’s better than Apres? The obvious answer would be a little Pre-pres. That’s where Corbet’s Cabin comes into play. After a hard charging morning of a little pow and go seek looking for the remaining stashes ones stomach requires “World Famous Waffles” served hot and fresh at 10,450 feet. My personal preference is Strawberry, however Corbet’s has several steamy mouth-watering varieties to choose from. As with any post powder day the lines for the lifts were minimal to non-existent which left many powder […]

Four Snowboarders Sue Alta Ski Resort Using 14th Amendment

You did just read the title right… A 501(c3) pendng group (Not for Profit) has just filed suit against Alta Ski Lifts Company and their policy that has banned snowboarders from accessing their lifts. The entire 4 person group who has started a not for profit entitled Wasatch Equality are all listed as plaintiffs in the suit filed in the Utah District Court. Read the whole lawsuit here. Rick Alden, Drew Hicken, Bjorn Leines and Richard Varga believe that Alta’s ban on Snowboarding violates the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Section 1. All persons born or naturalized […]

Ski Stoke | New Edit From The Panda Tribe

As much as we in the ski community like to think we are all friends and all get along, (Which we are and do) the snow world is like high school all over again. With so many variations and styles there are bound to be cliques. Jibbers, park rats, skittles, weekend warriors, bro-brahs, tele skiers and the list goes on. However when you bring all these together there are the haves and the have-nots. What is this have I speak of? Panda Poles. The Panda Tribe is […]

Chicks Who Rip | K2 MissFits in Murren, Switzerland

Last year, K2 sent three of their best skiing and looking female athletes, McKenna Peterson, Pip Hunt and Amie Engerbretsen, to Murren, Switzerland to ski big, bold and burly lines. While there the ladies encountered high avalanche danger, deep pow, manky slush and wind buff but made the most of it all. This winter McKenna and Pip and several others will be taking skills […]
