DEEP Snow in Alta Yesterday | Photo Tour

Tuesday morning we awoke to Alta only reporting 5 inches of snow. The storm had underperformed… However it proceeded to snow all day long totaling to 15 inches! We spent the morning inbounds at Alta skiing the tower 10 traverse. The snow piled up all day, with snow rates 1+ inches per hour all afternoon. In the afternoon Alta got a bit […]

Arapahoe Basin, CO Conditions Report: Sun, Snow, & New Terrain

It was a crisp cold start to the morning at A-basin, but there was a bit of new snow overnight and the sky was clear and waiting for the sun to come up over the mountains. We aimed straight for the top, taking Black Mountain Express, to Lenawee. At the summit, the sun was in full force and the snow was great packed powder. We spent the better part of the morning lapping the fast and edgeable […]

Creamy, Soft and Powdery in the Colorado Backcountry – Nov 19th

The plan was to meet at the trailhead at 6:30. I was excited though, so I went to bed at 8:15 last night. And therefore woke up at about 4am, ready to go. I ended up being 20 minutes ahead of schedule. I stopped and gave my car a good, much needed squeegee, got lost on my way to the trailhead, and still ended up there 10 minutes early. So I took a quick nap. By 7am sharp we were skinning to the rising sun and setting moon. […]

A Week of Powder in VT – 29″ Total!

As the lifts begin to spin, we close the books on the “early season”. And what an early season! The past week would have been great by mid-winter standards. Vermont Conditions Report: Stowe, VT Surprise Pow Day!

Another fantastic morning of skiing in Vermont. We’ve had an unreal early season so far and this morning we were gifted with a foot of new snow, even more in spots. I stayed on trails that had previously been buried with snowmaking, but even areas with only natural snow were skiing great! Get stoked with the edit below! For the original article see: […]

Colorado Conditions Report: Fluffy Snow & Long Lines Today

I feel a bit like a broken record. Yet another spectacular bluebird day in the Colorado backcountry. Left my house at 4:25am and picked up Jamie. Then quickly headed down to South Boulder, to grab a pair of skis and skins from a friend. My skis had a fairly catastrophic break. The second time with the same pair of skis. Won’t be getting them again. […]

Colorado Conditions Report: Fun, Variable Snow on Oct. 26th | Video & Photos

Saturday October 26th: Usually a ski day this time of year would be epic just due to it being so early in the season. In Colorado, we’ve been spoiled this year, though. This was the 5th Saturday I’ve ventured out in a row. It was the first without recent snow and the conditions were good, but not great. The snow […]

1st Day of Vermont Skiing, TODAY

photos and words by 1st Law Productions

After many days spent rushing out of work to get some sort of activity in before the light ends we have finally made it to ski season. And boy has it arrived. Usually we somehow convince ourselves that skiing on two to three inches covering rocks is “fun” but this morning was amazing. Skiing with FIS was certainly a wake up call, but we definitely got our vert in. After a quick run on the cliff trail we made our way up to the top of Nosedive. […]
