According to theย Aspen Times, Aspen Skiing Company has set up a soup kitchen at Aspen Snowmass, CO for employees that are unable to work due to low snow conditions.ย On the day after Thanksgiving, the resort started feeding employees dinner every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Employees are fed the meals at Bumps Restaurant at the base of Buttermilk and the Treehouse at Snowmass.ย So far, the number of diners has been anywhere from 100 to 160 people per meal. They are intended for lift operators and seasonal employees that don’t live in the area. Depending on whether or not Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk can open this weekend, Aspen’s unemployment rates could grow.
“As long as we can’t get those guys fully employed, we’ll keep feeding them,” stated Jeff Hanle, vice president of communications. “It’s meant for workers who would be starting full time but they’re not able to.”
