Arapahoe Basin Ski Area, in partnership with Summit County Public Health, will host a COVID-19 vaccine clinic that is free and open to the public on Sunday, May 16.
Two hundred doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available on a first-come, first-served basis between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm that day with no pre-registration required. Colorado residency is also not required. Everyone who gets a vaccine that day will receive a free bloody Mary, draft beer, or soda from A-Basin’s 6th Alley Bar & Grill. A-Basin is still open for skiing and riding through June 6 and will welcome ski and walk-up appointments.
“We are fortunate to have a strong partnership with Summit County Public Health and to bring this vaccine opportunity to A-Basin. From the beginning of this ski season, we have worked together toward the common goal of protecting the health and safety of our guests and employees alike. Hopefully, by bringing this vaccine point of distribution to A-Basin, we can help our community continue the progress that we have made to put this challenging year behind us. We thought it was the least we could do to thank our guests for their contribution with a bacon Bloody Mary on the 6th Alley deck.”
– Tony Cammarata, Arapahoe Basin Operations Director and head of ski patrol
The vaccine tent will be set up on A-Basin’s famous Beach with first responders from A-Basin Ski Patrol on hand to assist. All individuals ages 18 and over are eligible to receive the vaccine. The Beach spot can be found adjacent to the first aid building and near the Black Mountain Express Lift, at the far southeast corner of the Early Riser (lower) parking lot. In the event of inclement weather, the vaccination site will be located on the second floor of the main A-Frame building. A-Basin has four free parking lots and one paid lot that will be available; there is no special parking for this event. Participants will be required to wait for 15 minutes after receiving their shot to ensure there are no adverse reactions. After that, they can enjoy their free beverage and A-Basin’s famous spring skiing and riding.
“We are excited to partner with A-Basin on this fun community event and are so grateful for their support. We are asking community members to help spread the word and encourage anyone who has not yet been vaccinated to come out for their free COVID shot and a free drink. This is a time for us to celebrate the fact that we have the vaccine widely available and that we have moved to Level Green of reopening. Through vaccination, we can bring an end to the pandemic and return to a normal way of life.”
