No stranger to receiving the most snow in North America, Alyeska Resort, Alaska, is at it again. Yesterday’s 37″ dump took the ski area past 400″ for the season. The resort has seen 436″ of fresh snow this season and has a 135″ base.
Considering it’s still January, that’s an incredible total—more than most resorts will see all season. No other resort has even reached 300″ yet.
Alyeska has exceeded 500″ six times in the last few years. Last season, they reported 740″; in 2022-23 785″; in 2020-21 735″; in 2015-16 785″; in 2011-12 733″, and 2010-11 581″.
Alyeska averages 650″ of snowfall on the upper mountain and 512″ of snowfall at mid-mountain. The biggest year on record was 2012, with 978″ of snowfall.
The world record for a ski area is 1,140″ at Mt. Baker ski area, WA, in 1998/99.
