Alyeska Resort, AK, First Ski Resort to Reach 400″ Snowfall for 2024-25 Season

No stranger to receiving the most snow in North America, Alyeska Resort, Alaska, is at it again. Yesterday’s 37″ dump took the ski area past 400″ for the season. The resort has seen 436″ of fresh snow this season and has a 135″ base.

Considering it’s still January, that’s an incredible totalโ€”more than most resorts will see all season.ย No other resort has even reached 300″ yet.

Alyeska has exceeded 500โ€ณ six times in the last few years. Last season, they reported 740″; in 2022-23 785″; in 2020-21 735โ€ณ; in 2015-16 785โ€ณ; in 2011-12 733โ€ณ, and 2010-11 581โ€ณ.

Alyeska averages 650โ€ณ of snowfall on the upper mountain and 512โ€ณ of snowfall at mid-mountain. The biggest year on record was 2012, with 978โ€ณ of snowfall.

The world record for a ski area is 1,140โ€ณ at Mt. Baker ski area, WA, in 1998/99.
