The bodies of a couple from Aspen who have been missing since Sunday were found today at the base of the north face of 14,000′ Capitol Peak in Colorado, according to officials and TheSummitDaily.com.
The two bodies were located at 2:25pm today via helicopter, according to Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office commander Jesse Steindler.
The names of the deceased have not been released.
The couple was in their late 20’s and were last seen near the 14,000′ summit of Capitol Peak, CO.
“Given where the bodies were found, it is probably they fell off somewhere near (Capitol’s summit). Generally speaking, they were found below the summit.” – Jesse Steindler, a commander with the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office told TheSummitDaily.com
This couple reportedly planned to summit Capitol Peak on Sunday. Friends reported them missing on Sunday evening.
