Steve Lee is a true Australian badass that we know from skiing deep powder in Japan. This guy is one of only three Australian ski racers to have won at World Cup level. He also represented Australia in the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Winter Olympics.
Steve currently offers backcountry ski and snowboard tours in the Falls Creek, Australia backcountry terrain.
Steve Lee was born and bred in Falls Creek and knows the place like no one else.
Terrain ranges from the steep faces and tight chutes of Mt. McKay to the glory fields and powder stashes of Rocky Knolls and Dam Site. With Steve, you’ll experience Falls Creek like never before.
Intermediate skiing or snowboarding level is all that is required. Steve will bring you to the terrain that suit your ability to maximize fun and level of challenge you’re looking for.
Tours are a half day and are tailored from intermediate to advanced abilities for a group of 3 – 8 people. A custom built snowmobile and sled takes you to the top, saving your energy for the rides down. And with Steve Lee and his guides at the helm, you’ll enjoy the ride as much as the story’s and insight into Falls Creek he has to share with you. He runs two sleds which can take up to four people each and an extra on the back of the snowmobile with Steve.
Steve knows all the best spots to ski for different terrain, weather and snow conditions, so no matter when you go he’ll find the best run on the mountain and make sure you have the time of your life out in the back-country of Falls Creek. From the wide open cruisy gullies, to tree skiing in Pretty Valley, and all the way up to the highest point in the area Mt McKay for some steep open lines, perfect for those looking to challenge themselves.
There are 450 hectares (1,112 acres) of back-country terrain surrounding Falls Creek which is about the same size as Falls Creek’s inbounds skiable terrain.
The views, serenity, and challenge keep Steve’s tours incredibly popular throughout the season for guests looking for a challenge or a new adventure.
